Beach Fun!

Here are some pics from today. We went to the beach early in the morning and then again at sunset. During the day Daddy had to take our car to the shop and Sophie and I just played in the pool and squirted the water hose all afternoon. We had a blast. She said “bucket (more like bucka)”  for the first time today and then told me “doo-doo” when she was going to the bathroom. She is learning sooo much and getting so big! Doug went off somewhere right before we left this morning and didnt come back all day :(. Hopefully he comes back or is hanging with another family who is treating him good!

Another new addition – Meet Lulu

Well we haven’t even been in Santa Teresa for a full month and our family has grown by two. Yes we clearly are suckers for stray animals…but look at that little face. Lil Lulu was one in a litter of 5 kittens that were found on the side of the road in a town called Tambor (for all you visitors- this is where the Sansa flight lands/departs from). When we went to drop off Charles for a haircut at the vet there they were…5 little meowers all looking so tiny and adorable! We debated for about two days (ok, one) and then caved in and picked up this little 6 week old kitty now known as Lulu Binns…or Lulu Belle Binns to be exact. She is the sweetest little purring machine. I am pretty sure she has turned Will into a cat fan. Nothing phases this little furball…3 dogs up in her face and a toddler picking her up and chasing her around, and she just takes it all.

A typical morning nowadays…

Each morning we wake up and head off to the beach to start the day. We usually bring a bagel or croissant and eat some breakfast before going out to explore. Sophie found a clubhouse on the beach that she has claimed as hers and after playing in the ocean she likes to head up there and relax. Betsy usually runs around like a nut and then likes to veg out in the sand. Charles stays back at home and enjoys the peace and quiet for a change. Doug usually joins us but has been lazy the past few mornings and stayed home. We think he is busy at night trying to catch frogs and anything else that he can get his puppy paws on. Usually we are back home by 10:30/11am and Sosi is ready for a nap. This schedule works out quite nicely for mommy!! Below are some pics from this morning which turned out to be a monumental one b/c daddy finally cracked his first coconut!! 🙂

Our new pup?!

Well they say in Costa Rica the dogs adopt you, and apparently this little fella decided he wanted to be part of our family yesterday. We came home from the beach and found him laying under our table in our yard just chillin out. He was a little shy but within 5 minutes Sophie was feeding him food with her hand. She just walked right up to him and held out her hand like she was feeding a horse- lol. He didnt seem to mind and was super gentle licking it from her hand. She calls all dogs DUG…so if he sticks around, he’ll be Dug (doug). He hopped right in the truck with Betsy this morning and came to the beach with us like he has been doing it forever. Right now he is sleeping on the patio outside the bedroom window…this seems to be the spot he has claimed. Hopefully Dug sticks around b/c Will said if he stays a week then we can officially name him and he’ll be part of the fam – though im not so sure Charles agrees.

Nana comes to Santa Teresa!

What a super fun week we all had! Nana stayed a whole week and it just flew by. Sophie was saying NANA all week and loved hanging out and playing all sorts of quirky Sosi games. She loved to hide behind the curtain and then run into Nana’s arms, she loved making Nana hide in her tent, and my all time favorite, throwing rocks at Nana’s feet in the ocean- lol. When Nana boarded the plane to leave, Sophie was yelling Nana, Nana, Nana, and even as i type this it makes my eyes well up.

We spent most of the days at the beach or pool or just playing outside. Sosi went into the ocean for the first time and anytime she sees it or knows she is going to the beach she gets all excited and starts shouting “WA-WA. WA-WA (this mean water)”. We def. have a little beach bum on our hands. She is like a little frog in the pool and thinks she can swim already. She started saying “eye” and it is the cutest little “eye” I have ever heard. She is also big on “no-no-no” while waving her little pointer finger. Each day she is picking up more and more words and it is just so amazing to watch. Also amazing to watch is her hair getting blonder and her skin getting browner. In just one week her hair has all crazy shades of blonde and she is like a little bronze baby. Total beach bum.

We are going to miss Nana!! It really couldn’t have been a more perfect trip. We just went through the photos and whenever Sosi saw Nana in a photo she shouted out NANA! Ugh, breaks my heart. Nana best be planning her next trip. I have a cute video of Nana and Soph playing but the internet is running slow here so i think i’m going to have to upload when we go to the cafe. I’ll try to do that this week. In the meantime, below are a bunch of photos from the trip and this album is the double edited version. I literally have a gazillion pictures and it was so hard to edit because they were all so precious! My fave is the series of Nana and Sosi with the sunglasses. We love you Nana and had such an amazing time. Hope you come back sooooooon! XO

We are actually settled in now and really loving our new town. Sophie is a complete beach bum and bedtime is a non-issue now (thank you mr. sun).
