Team work

The other day I was in front of Will walking with Sophie and he was behind me carrying Sabs. Sophie and I popped into this bakery to check out what they had and Will hollered that he was going to go into this other store for a minute but i didnt hear him. When Sophie and I came out looking for him and Sabs, we couldn’t find them. I had given him my phone earlier b/c i had too many things in my hand so I couldn’t call him to see where they were. I figured he didnt see us go into the bakery and kept walking straight so i walked a bit to see if he was down the road. When i got far enough to think that there is no way he would have gotten that far, i headed back figuring i missed him. I started thinking ok i’ll ask someone where the vegetarian restaurant is if i cant find him b/c it is next door to our apt. This went on for about 10 minutes and i was looking up and down this road for him with no luck. I knew we were close to the apartment but i couldnt place myself.

In reality i was right in front of the apartment and I walked past the vegetarian restaurant oh i dont know 5 times?!! Finally i saw Will and we discussed how i didnt hear him and how i was starting to plan out how to get back to the apartment if i couldnt find him. He pointed behind me and said you mean this apartment? Yes i was standing in front of our building and had no clue. He was laughing a little and I was pretty discouraged that my sense of direction was so lame that i had no clue i was standing in front of the place we have been staying at the past week.

He tried to reassure me that it is because I usually just follow him and rely on directions b/c I am juggling the kids and that it isnt a big deal. My sense of direction has never been good but this was pretty pathetic and I vowed to myself that i really need to pay more attention in the future.

Speaking of the future, later that evening we were in the kitchen and I had made dinner for the girls. I asked Will to get them silverware to eat and watched him open every single drawer and cabinet in the kitchen until he gave up. I started laughing and said, um do you not know where the silverware is? We have been in this apartment nearly a week and he had no clue where to go and get a spoon. Shortly after I had asked him for a plate and the same thing happened. We both laughed b/c it really is all about team work. I may have no clue how to get back to the apartment and he may have no clue how to get around inside the apartment, but together we make it all happen. xo

Morning muffins, some new shoes, and a day of adventure

This morning we went down the block and got the girls some morning muffins

Then walked on down some more to pick up some new shoes for the lil one. Crocs of course since that is all either of them will wear and every time we walk past the store Sabs runs in b/c she sees a wall full of crocs.

Then we walked to the other side of town called Oltraorno (i think that is how u spell). It is the other side of the Orno river. There is a big garden we have been to there and it is the part of town where the artist created all funny street signs that i have taken pictures of. We went out to lunch and while we were eating it began to rain. We walked over to the gallery of the street sign artist named Clet, bought some stickers and as we were leaving we met Clet himself! Then we went to walk up to the garden and it really started to drizzle so we never made it there but on way back since it was so cold and dreary we stopped into a dark Irish Pub and Will had a scotch while the girls warmed up and snacked on some chips. Yup, little chicas were chillin in an Irish pub. We are so lucky that after being here nearly a month we have only gotten caught in rain once. We made the most of it and a fun adventure. Below is a pic of the bridge in the rain.  I didnt take the pic but thought it was really pretty for a dreary day.

Hello 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am, annnnd 5am

Yes this child woke up after sleeping for 2 hours and was wide awake allllll night. This is way past jet lag issues so we’re going with teething issues or just plain insanity. In case you were wondering what Sabs looks like at ungodly hours in the morning…here is her wide awake face. She was singing and dancing…not yawning. Where was Pooks you ask…sleeping of course, so she would be ready to wake up just hours after Sabs conks. I can’t remember what day this was, not sure why??? Happy to report we are all still alive.

Chef Pookie

It is no secret that Pookie likes to play chef and create recipes for everyone. Dada is usually the recipient of these creations (thank the heavens…gummy bear peanut butter sandwiches). This morning Sophie decided she was going to make breakfast for everyone. She was pretending Sabs was her customer and she was the chef – Sabs was a very happy customer. I was the bus boy obviously. Apparently Sabs ordered an open face cream cheese smiley face tortilla sandwich, or perhaps she just ordered the chef’s daily special. Will woke up to Pooks cream cheese and honey tortilla creation. As any good Dada would, he ate a piece and hid the rest.

Lucky for Sabs (maybe not so much for mama bus boy) the chef stated that she has all these ingredients in Costa Rica and can make these again when we all get home.

The Bitcoin ATM

There she stands! Right on our block. See post below for more explanation. Typing this while Will is at meeting with owner of this ATM :).

Some of the girls playing in the store while Dada chats Bitcoin.

Then some yummy muffins and cafe

Shopping selfie

Another pic for PaPa…mounds of Gelato

Random drawings that appear all over the city. Not sure who the artist is

Another Pookie size car

The girls

A stop in the 18.00 caprese salad hotel. We stop in to use their bathroom b/c if their salad is 18.00 lord knows their bathrooms should be clean- muhahaha

And finally the park! Sabs must be watching her sis socialize and today she decided she was going to give it a go all on her own. She saw another little pint size mate walk past her with her mom. We saw her eye the girl down so we said Sabs you can go play with her. Go ahead. Little peanut ran her hiney across the entire park to meet up where the little girl was playing. Too bad the girl was shy or not into it but Sabs had no clue and it was super cute to watch her run off on her own like her big sissy.

Monday Monday

I am days behind again…but here are some pics from move in day on monday. This apartment is next door to a vegetarian restaurant and toy store. Ideal location. It seriously is in the perfect location. It is in between the first apt and last apt. This could not have worked out any better! Of course as soon as the woman left after showing us the apt, Pookie had to strip naked and get comfortable.

Teething Sabs

Ironically, a few doors down is one of very few (possibly single digits) Bitcoin ATM’s in Italy. Will went in and chatted with the owner of the store and found out that his son was on TV last night talking about Bitcoin. Will is actually at a meeting with them now as I type this on Friday morning. So strange how things work out. I have some more pics from inside that I will post after. Can’t figure out what day is what so this is all a bit blurred together.

Here is a pic for PaPa…I haven’t had one yet but I will make sure to taste one before we leave Italy.

Sophie made this the other day all by herself. She now knows how to write and spell Sabi’s name on her own. So proud!
