Ok, we are now back and settled in CR, unfortunately a nasty cold virus has decided to settle in with us as well. Pookie seems to have mainly kicked it after nearly 2 weeks, I have waves of it on and off (currently on), and Sabs is just a walking snot monster. This is one disgusting virus that we kindly left with Nana and Papa too (woops) and possibly Kiki. Sorry all.
Anyway, I have downloaded all the pics and will do videos a bit later. So let’s start at the very beginning…a very good place to start. However, this actually wasn’t such a great place because poor little Pooks came down with fever the day before our travels and continued to have fever up until our arrival to NY. This fever was unrelated to the grossness that we are currently dealing with, though it also managed to knock Sabs out for a day in NY as well. Miraculously, kids are little super beings and Pooks wanted no part of postponing any travels. She was acting normal, running around, sleeping fine, not eating a bunch, but other than that you would never know she was ill. She tooks tons of baths along the way and the fever was gone in no time.
We started off our trip flying out of Liberia. It was a quick 3 hour (and change) drive to our hotel and both chicas were of course amazing the whole way. They ran into the hotel and did their usual excited hyper assessment of their new room for the night. Both hopped straight into the bath and had a blast. Pooks had about 101 fever in these pics, she still wanted to go swimming in the hotel pool, run around the lobby, and have pillow fights. I am sitting here with no fever and just congestion and all i want to do is crawl under this blanket and hibernate.
The hotel didn’t have the room we booked so they upgraded us to a bigger room. Not a bad start to the journey. We had a full living room, separate big bedroom, and a large bathroom. The girls took 3 baths in less than 15 hours.
Off we headed to Atlanta and the flight was super easy. Pooks slept most of it as she was still working off her fever. Sabs slept a little and chilled the rest of the time. Will had his own seat in the row opposite us. He gets off easy now since we need to buy 4 seats and the smaller planes only have 3 in each row. Lucky for me, the little nuggets are good travelers and I even got to watch a movie. I laugh because the only times i have watched anything other than a kids movie in the past year are when we have been on an airplane. I think Will got a solid chunk of work done too b/c he was able to get Wifi on the plane. Score all around.
Everyone slept great in Atlanta. The girls took prob 3 more baths. Pooks still wanted to go swim in the hotel pool and we had to tell her no again (still running fever). We forgot Pooks nightlight in the previous hotel in CR, if she wasn’t so excited for her plane the next day, we would have had a major issue. I left the bathroom light on, she was satisfied. I then went online to amazon and showed her that i found her exact nightlight and ordered it right away. It arrived in NYC two days after we did. Thank goodness it was the nightlight and not Happy bear. I lost my Benneton bear in a hotel when i was a kid. I was devastated. Luckily because of that tragic memory, i am Happy Bear’s greatest bodyguard. He gets packed the moment we wake up. For the record, Will plugged in the missing nightlight the night before (technically he should have been the one to unplug…if we want to get technical…which of course we do b/c it is in my favor). The girls made a little buddy in the lobby and played with her for a bit. Sophie was busy telling her how she was sick, but not really sick, just a little sick, but still ok. She was blabbing away like her normal chatty self and I knew she was just about done with this fever. By the time we landed her fever was gone. Here are some more bath pics (this time in atlanta). The hotel was also super nice though scrolling through i don’t think i took any pics.
