The kids could hardly contain all their excitement and I am just surprised no one made themselves sick with how over the moon they were to go see Nana, Tom Tom and Kiki!! The flight was easy peasy. The big girls are just so self sufficient now on the plane and lil Toobs has turned out to be such a fun travel companion. She always sits with Momma and loves to read books and play with stickers the entire flight. She hops right on and buckles her own seatbelt. Ugh she melts me.
Boston was a smooth travel and the kids were hilarious at the American breakfast buffet. Sabi couldn’t believe that this is what they actually served for breakfast…and coming from Sabs that is pretty funny. They had a waffle which not only had fake maple syrup served with it, but on top of that the waffle was filled with sugar crystals inside it. They actually advertise the sugar crystals on the outside of the packet like it’s a good thing. Fascinating. Then they had a muffin that was just a donut in a wrapper, and fruit in syrup which the kids apparently never had before. Toobs was most impressed because they had Cheerios in the shape of hearts.
Oh I almost forgot the most exciting part of the entire travel day! After a flight to Sao Miguel, a layover, and then a final flight to Boston in which we arrived at 7pm (11pm our time), we finally got through customs, got our bags, and made our way to what felt like an entirely different airport b/c it was so far. Will was calling an Uber when Sophie looked down and said…Oh Toobs is only wearing one shoe. Ummm…yea. Somewhere along the way while i was carrying her the entire time b/c she was sleeping since the airplane, lil miss thing lost a shoe. This wouldn’t have been as big of a deal if I didn’t only pack that one pair of shoes!!! Smart Momma thought she’d save room in the luggage b/c the girls were all getting new shoes in Florida, and I only brought the shoes on their feet. Why? This is my 3rd kid, epic mom fail.
Sooo, in a panic we retraced our steps b/c 2nd epic mom fail was to listen to Sabi who said, “Oh i think i saw something on the ground back by where we were sitting (2 elevators, 3 people movers, and who knows how many steps ago).” Will canceled the Uber and we made the trek back with all our luggage and still carrying the dead weight of sleeping Toobs who has no idea she is about to wake up with only one shoe. Obviously after all that the shoe wasn’t there, and so we went all the way back, called another Uber and waited with one croc Toobs to head to the hotel. Naturally she woke up pissed she only had one shoe, and all confused on what to do or where her other shoe could be. She also woke up freezing b/c she had no socks on because well another mom fail…i didn’t think we’d be spending so much time circulating the airport and waiting/not waiting for Ubers. In my head she would have 2 shoes, we’d pop off the plane, grab our things and head straight to the hotel. Instead I was holding a teeth chattering, one shoe, pissed off Toobs.
In the end, we survived (obvi since im writing this) and we found a Target nearby that Will ended up running to early in the morning before our next flight. He video chatted us and Toobs picked out her brand new pink pool shoes that she wore proudly all the way to Nana’s. This will for sure be the last time I travel with only one pair of shoes per kid and no socks. Epic, epic fail.
