Happy Birthday Daddy!

This is a busy birthday month in the Binns household. We had Sophie’s 7 month birthday on the 3rd, Daddy’s 29th birthday on the 4, and Mommy’s 32nd birthday is coming up on the 20th! Well, we planned to go to the museum today but good ole NY state tax ppl foiled those plans. Mommy had to inform them that she hasn’t been living in NY since 2005 and collecting sales tax without reporting it. What a headache! As I am writing this it just sounds so crazy that we haven’t lived in NYC since 2005! Anyway, we still managed to have a fun day at home, and we’re doing “Daddy’s bday take 2” next Tuesday so we’ll make up for it then. We made daddy brownies and a card, lit a fire, watched some Arkansas football, and drank some beer…not you of course. All in all, we still had a fun day and daddy lucked out because he gets to have his bday all over again next week…take that NY state tax ppl!! Happy birthday to you my soul mate. You are truly the most incredible person I have ever met. You are perfectly imperfect. I love you and all your whackadilly quirks. Sophie is the luckiest girl on earth to have you as her daddy. I am so proud of you and grateful that I get to spend every single day with you. You make our world go round. Like a record baby- right round- round round. Looove you!!

Igg’s first puzzle

Unfortunately the “I” was later eaten by that little white fuzzy hell bucket in the photo below. Her puzzle now says SOPHE. Oh well, I’m sure this is the first of many toys to be chewed, stolen, or destroyed by her furry brother or sister. She’ll get them back with some good ole ear and tail pulling for the next few years.

Iggy turns 7 months old!

Seriously- this is redic! 7 months! Happy Birthday little igghead! I put your sticker on today so you could celebrate all day and take your 7 month photo, but it seems you had a different plan. You are so aware and curious now that as soon as I stuck the sticker on your belly you became fascinated and determined to pull it off and figure out what it was. I tried to hide it under a hoody for the afternoon but you are too smart for that. Needless to say we only have 1/2 of your sticker left and the top that it was stuck to is now in the garbage because the sticker was so wet and mangled it wouldn’t come off- lol. You are such a little busy body! I managed to sneak in a pic before the sad sticker tragedy so we’re all set.

On another note little nugget, you had your daddy on the edge of a meltdown today and it was one of the saddest things I’ve seen yet (though while it was happening I knew it was a bit humorous too).  Your daddy had let his beard and hair get…hmm…what’s the best way to describe it…oh I know…untamed. Anyway, he went in the bathroom while you and I played, and shaved off his hair and beard. When he came out looking for you and calling out your name, you took one look at him and screamed bloody murder. You were so upset and scared that you started kicking your legs whenever he came close to you. This lasted on and off for 2 hours!! 2 hours you had him trying everything and anything just to get you to not cry when he looked your way. He put a hat on, took out your daddy book to show you pictures of him, ate dinner looking down so he didnt scare you, tried to play in your nursery with you, sang songs, put you on his shoulders, you name it – he did it. Finally around bath time you realized that no one stole your daddy and he just looked a little different- THANK THE LORD! It was a sad, sad sight. You may be the only one to get him to shave on a regular basis so i guess a  thank you is in order. Well played my little daughter.

Other than the “not my daddy” meltdown- we had a fantastic day! You are talking all the time, eating like a champ, rolling like crazy, sitting up on your own, and guess what- you slept 6 hours straight on your 7 month bday! I dont know if you’re turning over a new leaf or if having a leg shaking, not my daddy, meltdown fit is exhausting…my guess is the latter, but either way, I’ll take it! Happy 7 month to the most amazing daughter on the planet! Mommy and your new clean shaven daddy loooove you!

Funny things my husband says

Me: I think i’m going to try and put Sophie in her crib tonight.

Husband: But what if she sleeps through the night in there?

Oh lord, looks like someone has her daddy wrapped around that little fat sausage pinky. For those of you who don’t know, Iggs has been sleeping in our room every night since she was born. She starts off in the pack-n-play and then usually wakes up after a couple of hours and comes into our bed. She is now 7 months and from her daddy’s response, it looks like none of that is changing. lol. They’re lucky i love them so much.

You’re Gonna Miss This

When Soph is waking up hourly from 1am on, and I’m running on sleepless nights, Will always is there to remind me that before I know it I’m going to be wishing that she wanted to come into our bed and cuddle. Tonight I laughed with him as So-So had her leg across my stomach and her arm across my chest basically pinning me down while she snored away to ensure that I wouldn’t try and move her to her pack and play while she was sleeping. He said remember “You’re Gonna Miss This”, and it always brings me back to this video that I watched and balled my eyes out to while I was pregnant with Soph. Sometimes it is important to just put things in check and live in the moment just embracing it all.

Happy New Year!

Well it is Sophie’s first New Year and she was ready to party NYE! She took a late nap in the afternoon and we knew we were setting ourselves up for a late bedtime but the trade off was worth it. Will and I were able to sit down and have a NYE dinner and drink without picking up a giraffe 5 times, playing Yo Gabba Gabba, singing, dancing, etc. We then got the best of both worlds because after our dinner together the little iggs woke up and was ready to play. She had her bath and then came out and practiced trying to crawl, sat in my lap while I read a book, giggled and just straight up partied until about 11:40pm-lol. She tried Mangos for the first time and absolutely loves them! She was looking for more and chowing on it spoon after spoon. We ordered a new food from a line called Plum Organics and it def. tastes better than what she had from Earth’s Best or Gerber. Next up is peaches- hopefully we’ll have just as much luck. Here’s to much health, happiness, fun, success, love and laughter in 2011. Happy New Year Iggy- we had the perfect NYE with you.

Snowy So-So

There has been snow on the ground since Thanksgiving but it was finally a bit warmer so we decided to take Sophie down to the park and have a little fun. Here are some pics of her sitting in the snow all bundled up in her little snowsuit – presh!! She was blah, blah, blahing to anyone who would listen. She rode down to the park on her daddy’s shoulders and was just talking to the air. She just loves being outdoors…not very conducive in this weather but we’re trying. Oh we didn’t build this snowman, he was just there waiting.
