Happy 9th Birthday Pookie!!!

Sheesh i say this ever year but every year it is just so true…where does the time go?! How can i make it stop?!?! Happy 9th bday to the sweetest girl who first made me a momma! You are beautiful, strong, smart, creative, loving and truly make this world a better place. We are so proud of you and I am just in awe as I watch you grow and mature each year.

This year we shared the most special moment of your baby sister being born. You were the most supportive, loving, nurturing and interested side kick that I could have ever imagined. You were determined to be there for every minute and you sure held in strong with no sleep and all the action. The doctors were so impressed with how mature you were and I am just so grateful that you, dada and I were able to share those special moments together.

Since Maru’s arrival you have stepped up as the most incredible big, big sister I could have ever imagined. You and Sabsy are amazing, and just love little Roo with all your hearts. The bond that you all have together is so beautiful and fills my heart to the max.

Sadly this year sweet Sabsy was sick on your actual bday so it was a pretty mellow one and you were bummed that your partner in crime was down for the count. You kept checking on her hoping she would just jump up and play. Lucky for you it was only 24 hour virus and the very next day we had a “birthday redo”. We decorated the apartment, ordered 2 different cakes, made a treasure hunt filled with small gifts, celebrated at an amusement park and then topped it off with a playground!

I love you with everything inside me. You are so very special and magical. Just keep on being you and you will fly high! xoxoxo Happy 9th bday Pooks!

Tivoli Gardens- Early Bday Celebration for Pookie!!

I read the weather was going to be beautiful so we decided to go celebrate Pookie’s bday a day early at Tivoli Gardens which is basically like a little Disney World but ahhh so much calmer. Thank goodness we made this choice b/c the next day (Sophie’s real bday) Sabsy woke up with fever and was out of commission the entire day.

It was super fun and Sabs loved playing all the games (hit the balloon, throw the ball in the hole etc) while Maru chilled with Dada and Sophie and I hit up some rides. Apparently our little surfing, ziplining, dare devil is terrified of roller coasters. She went on one with me and kept her eyes closed the entire time. She wouldn’t talk to me, put her hands in the air or even look at what was happening. I tried the entire day to get her to go on with me again but nope she wanted none of it. Meanwhile she convinced me to go on the flying swings which was pure vomit but of course she loved. Dada does the spinning things and i’ll stick with the coasters.

Sabsy’s only ride she would go on was the Merry Go Round and even that terrified her if her horse would go up or down. One time Sissy and Dada were going on a spinning thing and I was with Sabsy and sleeping Roo and Sabs wanted to go on the Merry go round by herself. She went on but each time someone got the elephant. The girl was so determined to sit on an elephant that she waited 3 times until she was first in line so she could sit on top of a non moving elephant that went around in a slow circle. She likes to live on the edge apparently.

I think our favorite thing there was the massive playground and the fun zone which was like a crazy house with obstacle courses, etc. Pretty sure this sealed the deal that Disney would be a big, fat waste of money for us since really all the girls love are carnival rides and games. Fine with us!

Catching up (again)

We have now been at 3 other Airbnb’s since this post but whew I am behind. Since my last post we have had a birthday girl turn 9 years old, 2 kiddos get fever and vomit, a baby rolling over and chatting like a champ, and a trip to the countryside. We are having such an amazing time in Denmark. Im going to try and catch up as much as possible while all the rabbits are sleeping. Wish me luck!

Lil Roo has had a few licks of different foods since we’ve been here. Her first was apricot (seen below) and she will just suck on them while walking around in the carrier. Since then she has also had nectarines, apple and banana. She is interested in it all and will grab Will’s hand to give her more.

We think she is teething b/c there is a non stop drool and some chewing going on. At first we thought wow she is really teething b/c she turned into a different baby but then the fever hit and poor little rumper caught the same virus that took down Sabsy Rae on Sophie’s birthday. She had her first fever and was straight up miserable. The fever lasted about 24 hours but the misery continued for around 3 days. I am happy to report she is back to her soundly sleeping, giggling, happy self but man o man that was a rough little patch for the peanut. Sabsy just mainly slept hers off and was good to go in about 24 hrs. It seems it was a virus that brought headache, body ache, sore throat and then finished with a projectile vomit. Luckily it was fast moving.

The pics below were all from our first apt here in Fredericksberg.

Another day in Copenhagen

Well we are all still alternating battling jet lag which means Momma is never ending battling jet lag. Dada thought he was in the clear but I went to pee last night around 3am and found him in the kitchen eating left over pizza. Silly me stayed up to hang with Dada while everyone was conked out and then when i went to go back to bed my head was like nope, nope, nope. Then if my head wasn’t sure, the lil rabbit in the pack n play announced her nope. I popped her out, fed her and put her back to sleep only to find rabbit number 2 announcing her nope. Which leaves me to this moment of certain nope…sitting on the couch next to Sabs while the rest of the pack are sleeping. Guess i’ll be functioning on 2 hours of sleep for today. I’m trying to focus on the positive which is that tonight i for sure will be sleeping…so there’s that.

Yesterday we went over a friend’s house that we met in CR one time on a road trip. They have two girls around Sophie and Sabs age so it was loads of fun. We had cake and coffee which had me feeling like an old ninny and at the same time was super satisfying so not sure what that says about this point in my life. Sabi found her pom pom wearing soul sister and the girls got to practice their spanish since the kids only speak danish and spanish. They walked us around their neighborhood and it started raining so our jungle kids were stoked and apparently dont mind cold rain. The girls all had their own little umbrella and they were singing spanish songs together while skipping in the rain. So precious!

On all of our walks recently Sophie and Sabi have been holding hands and telling each other made up folktales. They get so into it and it keeps them going so they are walking like champs. Today is friday in Copenhagen and our friends told us that every friday it is tradition for kids to go to the candy store and pick out a bag of candies. The stores bring out special pick n mixes for the kids each friday. Then the families all watch some disney type special on the tv from 8-9pm that airs each friday. Obviously Sabi gave the massive approval on this tradition so we’ll be giving it a go today.

2 days ago we were walking and saw a bunch of kids in the park playing some sorta drinking game where they line up 2 teams and then put a bottle in the middle and each team has to take turns throwing a sneaker to knock it down. If other team knocks it down they have to drink their beer before their opponent picks it back up and whatever they haven’t finished by the time the sneaker is picked up they need to dump over their head. Our kids were very happy to park their bums on the grass and watch this fiasco. They had music playing and everything. Im not sure that this was our finest parenting moment and Will and I knew exactly what Sabi was going to say before she even said it…”we need to play this at home”. Oh Sabsy, she is going to be trouble.

Then we got home and the girls went out into the yard and played with some boys that were out there. Sophie came in and told us that she was playing frisbee and when she caught it she came up and flipped her hair…you know to be like one of those woah girls in a movie (dramatic hair flip). Hahahaha. Will and I were like ummm is that when they said they had to go eat dinner. Our little weirdos. I don’t think Will is going to survive their teenage years.

Anyways, on to some pics. We are having a blast and loving Copenhagen just as much as we did the first time around. Oh and Tooskie took her first train ride…she could hardly contain her excitement (see pic below). Seriously though she is such a travel trooper. Dada lit a fire last night and she was mesmerized.
