Last stop – Arenal Volcano in La Fortuna

Our last stop was this incredible sight. It is seriously breathtaking in person. Our hotel room faced the view of the volcano so each morning it was right in front of us. The hotelย was so cool and we again had our own cabin. It had a bunch of hot spring pools, a farm for the kids to milk cows, collect eggs, pet goats. The restaurant was farm to table. The girls made buddies with the owners grand daughter and we had the VIP treatment each day. He took us all around the property and showed us all their fruit trees and how they make their compost. They all swam together, jumped on the trampoline, milked cows and we even got to go with the farmer to the field where they all roamed and there was a baby cow who loved the farmer so much she would just sit there hugging him with her head. Will went over and she tried to push him out of jealousy. It was precious and made me thankful i don’t eat meat. She had the largest eyes and longest lashes.

We went to a waterpark which Sabi loved and Sophie was terrified of the big red bucket so she went in once. Luckily they had a huge hot spring pool with a swim up bar which we ended up staying in most of the time after dada, momma and sabsy had our run with the slides.

We went to an eco farm and learned about snakes, lizards, turtles, frogs, butterflies and insects. Sabi got to have a lizard climb up her arm and it could be one of my favorite pictures of all time. She was so proud.

We had our best meals out here and the food was so good. One of the restaurants even took the girls picture and posted them on their facebook page.

Ugh it was such a good time. The weather was perfect. Everything was perfect! The kids were a blast to hang out with and even though we hang out with them everyday there is still something special about hanging out together during holiday. xoxoxoxo

not very flattering of me but one of my favorite photos b/c it captures what it is all about right now. Thanks dada for sneaking this pic when we were napping ๐Ÿ™‚

this photo is everything

poor little sabs tipped over and scraped her knee. Sissy to the rescue! She took her in the room and told her she would take care of her. LOVE BUGS!

bahaha sissy’s face when sabsy’s choc drizzled waffle came out. Good thing Sabs was in a sharing mood ๐Ÿ™‚

driving home and stopping for a poo and a business video call in the middle of no where

Driving to Arenal

This was definitely the most beautiful drive we have ever taken so far. Every where we looked were amazing views. We took a back road that was unpaved and through all the mountains. We drove through a ginormous river and crossed a bridge that looked like it was made only for horses. It was such a fun adventure and prob one of my favorite parts of the trip. The kids had their heads out the windows like dogs. We had to stop for cows, wild horses and even buffalo!! A M A Z I N G!

The terrifying bridge made with two tree trunks a few nailed in wood planks. I walked over first with the girls and Will followed after with the car. Sophie loved this part (and crossing the river – which was more like a lake). This is an actual route and was the way an app called Waze told us to go- however this is def the locals route.

Here is the river we crossed. Will walked through it first to make sure it was really “crossable”. The deepest part was to his knee. He thought this was the most terrifying part of the drive, i would have to say the bridge did it for me. We chose to take this same route home so all in all it couldn’t have been that terrifying ๐Ÿ˜‰

Monteverde fairy cabin

Whew this place was breathtaking! The views, the weather, the cabin, everything! The girls were so stoked to have a bath tub. I think they took at least 2 or 3 baths each day. We def. ran through all their bubbles. The views were just insane. We will be back here for sure. The town was cute and lively and the property we stayed on was perfect for the kids to run around, swim, create and just play. It was pure magic.

Our Epic CR road trip – First stop Playa Samara

We are back from one of the greatest trips we have taken to date. We traveled by car to 3 different areas in CR for a week and had a killer time. This country is truly so magnificent and even more magnificent is my little travel crew. The pictures don’t even do it justice. We had such an incredible time and the words “wow”, “so thankful”, “oh my gosh”, “incredible” were tossed out too many times to count. To top it off, we get to come home to our own paradise and Will and I were saying how blessed we are to be equally as excited to go home as we are to travel (Sophie chimed in agreeing on this one too).

A few one liner gems that came during car rides are:

Sabi: “Mama, why you have glue on your eyes” (referring to mascara that i never wear at home)

Sophie: “It’s cold as a mofo in here” (clearly i have to use mofo less)

Sophie: “This sorta feels like Costa Rica” (arriving at Samara beach- in CR)

Sabi: Sabs learned and told her first knock knock joke. It went like this “knock knock, who’s there, rupting cow (interrupting), rupting cow who, moo”. This drove Sophie wild since it was repeated for about 10 minutes straight each car trip. It then turned into just “moooo” for about 10-15 minutes. Sophie was going bonkers in the back begging Sabi to stop mooing.

Sophie: Sophie was playing with a little boy her age who brought out a princess doll and his Captain America action figure. Sophie looked at him and said “Oh i know, how about Captain America is the prince!”. He looked at her in disgust. She quickly caught on and said “Oh i know, how about he is just Captain America”. bahahah. Way to try and quickly salvage the game pooks!

These are a few i can remember off the top of my head, however, the trip was just full of them and so many precious moments. Man oh man, so thankful!

Ok, on to the pics from Samara…oh and obviously from the mouthful i just put out you can tell i got a keyboard back. Will set me up on his old computer ๐Ÿ™‚

First stop Nicoya to renew our residency cards. Sabs puked once on this leg of the trip and thankfully it was the only puke of the entire trip. Also, it happened to be a very clean, non smelly puke so double win.

Pooks signing her own name for her new residency card in Nicoya

The rest of these from playa Samara will be just a bit out of order bc i dont have the head to sort out the days.
