Yesterday we escaped the city for the afternoon and drove up high (wayyyyy high) in the mountains to a windmill park in Santa Ana. We climbed through a fence and enjoyed amazing views, a yummy picnic prepared by momma and sabsy and then we hiked all around the mountains finding plants, pine cones, beautiful friendly horses, and wishy flowers.

Thankful Gerty made it up the mountain to take us there…not sure she could do it twice. We saw at least 5 cars broken down or smoking on the side of the ride. This couldve been the steepest drive we’ve done with a car. The way down you could smell our brakes burning from having to drive holding them down. But the views from the top- whew! It was also super nice b/c a bunch of Tico families were just hanging out having picnics, flying kites, and they even brought boxes to sled down the hills on. The girls and Will did the straight up roll down the hill. Sophie and Sabi decided we should build a house there. They are def not city kids. For awhile i thought maybe Sabi would be but she really enjoys space to run, quiet and nature…Sophie was obvi never a city kid.

What a great way to wrap up 2018 (esp since we’re still alive after conquering the hill and Gerty didnt go on fire). For sure one of my favorite things we’ve done in the city (to get out of the city- hahaha). Thankful.

Day of painting ceramics:

Me: Sabs let’s use this paint for the skin color

Sabs: No, that is too light, this is skin color.

Me: Sabs, that is orange for sure, not skin color.

Sabs: No this is skin color. Im using this.

Me: oke doke.

A week later we have picked up their finished pieces…

Sophie: Sabs, why is your girl orange?

Sabi: She’s not. That’s just her color. People are different colors.

Me: bahahahahahahah dying (inside of course).

Sabs has not mentioned her color once and will never admit that she is in fact…orange. Nope, it’s just her color.

Yesterday the girls experience Claire’s for the first time. Sabi was in absolute sparkly girl heaven and Sophie managed to find the only unsparkly/ungirly things in the store. I think Sabs could’ve spent the entire day trying on headbands and looking at herself in the mirror.

Also to note…Sabs tried and loved Kombucha. So odd the things this child wont eat and then she loves Kombucha. I’ll take it.

Dada went back to check up on his tooth and all looks good. We just chilled around today and the girls had spanish class. Tomorrow we’ll be hitting up the farmers market in search of some yummy fruits/veggies and hopefully vegetarian tamales!!!
